🧀 Carnivore Fried Cheese Balls
Crispy outside • Melty inside • Totally zero carb
🧂 Ingredients:
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella
-
1/2 cup shredded cheddar or provolone (optional mix for flavor)
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan (for texture & crisp)
-
1 egg
-
2 tbsp pork rind crumbs (plus more for rolling)
-
Pinch of salt
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
🛠️ Optional: Add small cubes of mozzarella or cheddar inside for extra-gooey centers.
🧈 For Frying:
-
Beef tallow, lard, duck fat, or ghee (any carnivore-friendly fat)
🔥 Instructions:
-
Mix it up: In a bowl, combine all cheeses, egg, pork rind crumbs, and seasonings. Mix into a thick dough-like consistency. Chill for 10–15 mins if it’s too soft to roll.
-
Form balls: Scoop and roll into small balls (about 1 inch). Optional: press a cube of cheese in the center and seal around it.
-
Coat (optional): Roll each ball in extra pork rind crumbs for a super crisp crust.
-
Fry:
-
Heat fat in a small pan (~1 inch deep) over medium-high.
-
Fry balls in batches, turning to get all sides golden (about 2–3 mins total).
-
Don’t overcrowd the pan — they crisp better with space.
-
-
Drain: Remove with slotted spoon, place on paper towel or wire rack.
-
Cool for 1–2 mins (molten lava cheese alert ⚠️), then devour!
💡 Tips:
-
Air fryer? Yep: 390°F (200°C) for 6–8 mins, shake halfway.
-
Want spicy? Add crushed red pepper or a bit of cayenne.
-
Store leftovers in fridge, reheat in air fryer or pan to re-crisp.
