Mozzarella Carnivore Cheese Slices Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) shredded whole-milk mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp (30g) heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (60g) butter, melted
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water (if needed for consistency)
- 1 tbsp (15g) Parmesan cheese (optional, for added depth)
- A pinch of black pepper (optional, for taste)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt. Microwave the mixture on high for 30-45 seconds until the cheese is melted and soft, stirring every 20 seconds to ensure even melting.
- Add the Egg:
- After the cheese has melted, allow the mixture to cool slightly (about 5 minutes). Once cool enough to handle, beat in the egg. This step helps to bind the cheese together into a solid, sliceable form.
- Mix in Other Ingredients:
- Add the melted butter, Parmesan (if using), and garlic powder to the cheese-egg mixture. Stir everything together until it forms a smooth, consistent batter. If the batter feels too thick, add a bit of water (a teaspoon at a time) to loosen it.
- Shape and Set:
- Pour the cheese mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, shaping it into a rectangular or square form to your desired slice thickness. Use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly. The cheese layer should be about 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick for proper slicing.
- Bake the Cheese:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the mozzarella mixture for 15-20 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and slightly crispy around the edges. Keep an eye on it to prevent over-baking.
- Cool and Slice:
- Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the cheese to cool for 10-15 minutes. This resting period allows the cheese to firm up, making it easier to slice. Use a sharp knife to cut into slices of your preferred size.
- Serve:
- Enjoy these mozzarella cheese slices on their own as a snack, or use them as a carnivore-friendly substitute for sandwich bread, in wraps, or paired with cured meats.
Tip: If you prefer a chewier texture, reduce the baking time slightly. You can also experiment by adding seasonings like oregano or dried basil for a more pizza-like flavor.
