Step 1: Prepare the Beef Patties

Season the beef: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce (optional), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Use your hands to thoroughly mix everything until well combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat to keep it tender.

Shape the patties: Divide the beef mixture into 4 even portions. Shape each portion into a patty by rolling it into a ball and then gently pressing it down into a flat, round shape. You can make the patties thicker or thinner depending on your preference.
Step 2: Cook the Beef Patties

Heat the fat: Heat 1-2 tablespoons of beef tallow, butter, or lard in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Allow it to melt and get hot, ensuring the patties will get a nice sear.

Flip and cook through: Flip the patties and reduce the heat to medium. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes on the second side, or until the patties are fully cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 160°F or 71°C for medium-well doneness).
