Beef Patties Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Beef Patties:
    • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness or higher fat for extra richness)
    • 1 large egg (helps bind the meat and adds richness)
    • 1 tbsp beef tallow, butter, or lard (for extra flavor)
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder (optional, for added flavor)
    • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky touch)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional for extra flavor)
  • For Cooking:
    • 1-2 tbsp beef tallow, butter, or lard (for frying)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Beef Patties

  1. Season the beef: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce (optional), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Use your hands to thoroughly mix everything until well combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat to keep it tender.

  2. Shape the patties: Divide the beef mixture into 4 even portions. Shape each portion into a patty by rolling it into a ball and then gently pressing it down into a flat, round shape. You can make the patties thicker or thinner depending on your preference.

Step 2: Cook the Beef Patties

  1. Heat the fat: Heat 1-2 tablespoons of beef tallow, butter, or lard in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Allow it to melt and get hot, ensuring the patties will get a nice sear.

  2. Cook the patties: Once the fat is hot, add the patties to the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side until they develop a golden-brown crust.

  3. Flip and cook through: Flip the patties and reduce the heat to medium. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes on the second side, or until the patties are fully cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 160°F or 71°C for medium-well doneness).

Step 3: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Rest the patties: Once the patties are done, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  2. Serve: Serve the patties as-is, or top them with a fried egg or melted cheese for extra indulgence (optional if you’re okay with dairy).

Optional Sides (for extra carnivore feel):

  • Serve with a side of crispy bacon.
  • Add a dollop of beef tallow or butter for extra richness.
