How to Render Beef Tallow

1. Chop the Suet:
Cut the suet into small pieces by hand or pulse it in a food processor.
2. Render the Tallow:
Add the suet to a large pot over low heat or use a slow cooker set to “low.”
Stir occasionally (about every hour) to prevent sticking.
Cook for 3–4 hours (or 4–8 hours in a slow cooker) until the cracklings are completely shriveled.
3. Strain and Store:
Let the mixture cool slightly. Strain it through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth and pour into your storage container of choice.
