Carnivore Brisket Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3-4 lb Beef Brisket
- Salt (to taste)
- Water (for the water pan)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Brisket:
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
- Season the brisket generously with salt on all sides. No need for additional spices as the salt enhances the natural beef flavor.
- Set Up the Water Pan:
- Place a water pan on a lower rack in your oven. The water pan is crucial for maintaining moisture during the long cooking process.
- Fill the pan with water. Refill it as needed to ensure it stays full throughout the cooking process.
- Cook the Brisket:
- Place the brisket on the middle rack of the oven, above the water pan.
- Let it cook for about 3-4 hours, checking periodically. The brisket should be cooking at a low, consistent temperature.
- After about 3-4 hours, check the brisket’s surface. If it’s getting too dark, cover it loosely with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.
- Maintain Moisture:
- Continue cooking for several more hours, checking the water pan every couple of hours. Refill the pan with hot water as needed to prevent the brisket from drying out.
- Test the Brisket:
- Cook the brisket for about 6-8 hours total, or until the internal temperature reaches 200°F (93°C), which will ensure a tender and juicy texture. You can also test by inserting a fork or skewer into the brisket—it should slide in with minimal resistance.
- Rest and Slice:
- Once the brisket is fully cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes.
- Slice against the grain (perpendicular to the lines in the meat) to achieve the most tender slices.
