Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 fat ratio for juiciness)

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (or more, depending on how buttery you like it)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: garlic powder or onion powder (if you’re not strictly carnivore but want to add flavor)

  • Optional: cheese slices (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • Take the ground beef and season it with salt and pepper. If you’re using garlic or onion powder, add a pinch of each as well. Mix the beef gently (don’t overwork it) and form it into 4 patties. You want the patties to be slightly larger than the buns you plan to use, since they will shrink as they cook.

  2. Cook the Patties:

    • Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties on the grill/skillet.

    • Cook the burgers for 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on how well done you like them. The goal is to get a nice crispy crust on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and tender.

  3. Add Butter:

    • Once the burgers are cooked to your liking, reduce the heat to low and add 1 tablespoon of butter to each burger patty. Let the butter melt over the top of the patty and soak into the meat. This will give the burger an incredible richness.

  4. Optional Cheese:

    • If you’re using cheese, place a slice on each patty right before you add the butter so it has time to melt.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve the butter burgers hot! You can eat them as-is (for a strict carnivore approach) or add carnivore-friendly condiments (like mustard or sugar-free ketchup) and side dishes like crispy bacon, if desired.
