Carnivore Cheese Buns (Zero Carbs)
Ingredients:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (full-fat, whole milk mozzarella works best)
- 2 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for added flavor)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional, for flavor)
- 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional, for flavor)
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)
- 1/4 tsp baking powder (optional, for a little rise and fluffiness)
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
- Melt the cheese:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and cream cheese. Microwave for about 30-40 seconds, stirring halfway through until the cheese is melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt them in a double boiler or on the stovetop.
- Mix the ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until well-beaten. Add the grated Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper (if using). Stir to combine.
- Once the melted mozzarella and cream cheese are cool enough to handle, mix them into the egg mixture. Stir until everything is fully combined. If you’re using baking powder, add it now to give the buns a slight rise.
- Form the buns:
- Using your hands or a spoon, divide the dough into 4-6 portions. Roll them into ball shapes or shape them into small bun-like discs. Place each shaped bun onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake:
- Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and firm to the touch. Keep an eye on them to prevent overbaking.
- Finish and serve:
- Once the buns are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Brush the tops with melted butter for an extra rich finish.
- Enjoy!
- These Carnivore Cheese Buns are ready to be enjoyed! They make an excellent accompaniment to meats, soups, or just as a snack on their own.
Tips:
- You can customize these buns with your favorite seasonings, like dried herbs, if you want to add some extra flavor.
- They can be stored in the fridge for a few days, or you can freeze them for longer storage. Reheat them in the oven for a couple of minutes to keep them crispy.
These buns are a perfect zero-carb alternative to traditional bread and are packed with flavor and satisfying richness. Enjoy them as a base for sandwiches or alongside your favorite carnivore meals!
