Carnivore Chili Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (you can also use ground lamb, pork, or bison)
- 1/2 lb beef stew meat (or another type of meat like pork belly, short ribs, or chicken thighs)
- 2 tbsp beef tallow or animal fat (for cooking)
- 1/2 cup bone broth (optional, for extra flavor and richness)
- 1-2 cups water (as needed)
- 2-3 oz cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)
- Salt (to taste)
- Ground beef or pork liver (optional, for added nutrition)
- Spices (optional, for flavor):
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Meat:
- Heat the beef tallow or animal fat in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and beef stew meat (or other choice of meat) to the pot. Brown the meat for about 5-7 minutes, breaking up the ground beef as it cooks.
-
Add Bone Broth and Water:
- Once the meat is browned, pour in the bone broth (if using) and a little water to help create the chili-like consistency. Stir everything together.
-
Add Seasonings (Optional):
- If you are using any optional spices, add them now, such as smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, or salt. This helps to add some savory flavors, but feel free to skip them if you prefer a purely carnivore flavor.
- For extra nutrition, you can stir in some ground liver.
-
Simmer the Chili:
- Lower the heat to a simmer and let the chili cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is tender and the flavors have melded together. If it gets too thick, you can add more water or bone broth.
-
Serve:
- Once the chili is done, serve hot. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired (this is optional and depends on whether you’re following a strict carnivore diet or are allowing some dairy).
Optional Toppings:
- Shredded cheddar or other hard cheeses (like Parmesan)
- A dollop of sour cream (if you are including some dairy in your carnivore plan)
This chili is rich in animal fats and proteins, and it’s very satisfying! Feel free to adjust the spices to your liking or stick to a more basic approach, depending on your preferences on the carnivore diet.
