Carnivore Meat Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (or you can use ground pork, lamb, bison, or a mix)
- 2 tablespoons beef tallow (or pork lard, butter, or any animal fat of your choice)
- 1/2 cup beef broth (make sure it’s a broth without any plant-based additives or sugar)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional, adds richness and flavor)
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional for extra richness)
- Salt (to taste)
- Freshly ground black pepper (optional, depending on your version of the carnivore diet)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, if tolerated)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional, if tolerated)
- A pinch of cayenne pepper or paprika (optional for a slight heat or smokiness)
Directions:
-
Cook the Ground Meat:
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of beef tallow over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground meat to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon or spatula as it cooks, browning it until fully cooked and no longer pink. This will take about 7-10 minutes depending on the meat type.
-
Drain the Fat (if necessary):
- Depending on the fat content of your meat, you may want to drain some of the excess fat, but leave a little in the pan to keep the sauce rich.
-
Add the Broth and Simmer:
- Once the meat is browned, add 1/2 cup of beef broth to the pan. Stir to combine. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes to reduce slightly and concentrate the flavors.
-
Stir in Cream and Butter (optional):
- If you want a creamier, richer sauce, add the heavy cream and 1 tablespoon of butter. Stir until the butter is melted and the sauce becomes smooth and velvety.
-
Season the Sauce:
- Add salt to taste and optional seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne, or paprika) to add depth and flavor. Stir everything together, allowing the sauce to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
-
Add Parmesan Cheese (optional):
- For extra flavor and creaminess, stir in grated parmesan cheese and let it melt into the sauce.
-
Final Simmer:
- Let the sauce simmer for another 10-15 minutes on low heat, allowing all the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
-
Serve:
- Serve the carnivore meat sauce hot over cooked meats (like grilled steak, roasted chicken, or meatballs), or with eggs. This sauce can be used as a topping or a dipping sauce.
Optional Variations:
- For added texture, you can use ground sausage in place of or in combination with ground beef for a more savory, spiced flavor.
- If you want to make the sauce thicker, you can cook it longer to reduce the liquid or add a bit more parmesan for thickening.
This carnivore meat sauce is simple but flavorful and perfect for complementing your favorite animal-based dishes. Enjoy!
Why add beef tallow when browning the meat? And then to specify draining the fat…just curious.
