Carnivore mozzarella sticks recipe

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz (340g) full-fat mozzarella cheese (block style)

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup ground pork rinds (this replaces breadcrumbs)

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional, if you allow seasonings on your carnivore diet)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional, if you’re okay with spices)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the mozzarella: Slice the mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch wide.

  2. Coat the sticks:

    • In a bowl, beat the egg.

    • In another bowl, mix the ground pork rinds with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Dip and coat:

    • Dip each mozzarella stick into the egg, making sure it’s well coated.

    • Then roll it in the ground pork rind mixture until evenly coated. You can double coat them for extra crispness if you prefer.

  4. Freeze:

    • Lay the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    • Freeze them for at least 1 hour, so they don’t melt too quickly when cooking.

  5. Fry or bake:

    • To fry: Heat a skillet with a little animal fat (like beef tallow or lard) over medium heat. Fry the mozzarella sticks for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

    • To bake: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes until crispy and golden.

  6. Serve: Enjoy immediately while hot and melty!

These are perfect for a carnivore diet because they use only animal-based ingredients. You can also dip them in homemade ranch (if you eat dairy) or just eat them on their own!
