Simple Carnivore Steak Recipe
Here’s a simple carnivore steak recipe that focuses on just meat and seasoning for a delicious, satisfying meal:
Ingredients:
- 1 thick-cut steak (Ribeye, T-bone, or your preferred cut)
- Salt (preferably sea salt or kosher salt)
- Black pepper (optional, if you want to add a little kick)
- Butter (optional, for extra richness)
- Garlic (optional, if you want to infuse some flavor)
- Beef tallow or any animal fat (optional, for cooking)
Instructions:
- Prepare the steak:
- Take your steak out of the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
- Generously season both sides of the steak with salt. If you’re using pepper, add that as well.
- Preheat your pan or grill:
- Heat a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat. Alternatively, you can grill the steak over high heat.
- If using a skillet, add a little beef tallow or animal fat to prevent sticking and add flavor. If grilling, you can skip this step.
- Cook the steak:
- For skillet: Once the pan is hot, place the steak in the pan and let it cook without moving it for about 3-4 minutes (for medium-rare). Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of the steak and your preferred doneness.
- For grill: Place the steak on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the time based on your preference.
- Optional: Add butter and garlic:
- If you want extra richness, add a tablespoon of butter to the pan during the last minute of cooking, along with a crushed garlic clove. Spoon the melted butter over the steak for added flavor.
- Rest the steak:
- Once the steak reaches your desired level of doneness, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute.
- Serve and enjoy:
- Slice and serve your steak as is, or with your favorite carnivore sides (such as crispy bacon, pork belly, or eggs).
Doneness Guide:
- Rare: 120°F (about 2-3 minutes per side)
- Medium-Rare: 130°F (about 3-4 minutes per side)
- Medium: 140°F (about 4-5 minutes per side)
- Medium-Well: 150°F (about 5-6 minutes per side)
- Well-Done: 160°F and above (longer cooking times)
Enjoy your carnivore-friendly steak!
