Carnivore Burger with Egg “Bun”
Ingredients:
- 2 ground beef patties (80/20 for extra juiciness, or 70/30 for more fat)
- 2 eggs
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese (or any preferred cheese, or omit if strict carnivore)
- 1 tbsp beef tallow, butter, or bacon grease (for cooking)
- Salt to taste
- Optional: 1-2 strips of crispy bacon (for extra flavor and texture)
- Optional: 1-2 slices of liver (if you’re including organ meats for extra nutrients)
Instructions:
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add your choice of fat (beef tallow, butter, or bacon grease).
- Season the ground beef patties with salt.
- Cook the beef patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing down gently to get a nice sear and juiciness. If using thicker patties, adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Set aside and keep warm.
- Fry the Eggs:
- In the same pan, add more fat (if needed), then crack the eggs into the skillet.
- Cook until the whites are fully set but the yolk remains runny (or to your desired doneness). For a more crispy effect, cook the eggs longer and allow the edges to crisp up.
- If you prefer a more firm yolk, flip the egg carefully and cook for another minute.
- Optional: Cook the Bacon & Liver:
- If adding crispy bacon, cook the strips in the same skillet until they reach your desired level of crispiness. Place them on a paper towel to drain any excess fat.
- If adding liver, slice it thinly and fry in the pan until fully cooked and crispy.
- Assemble the “Burger”:
- Place one beef patty on a plate as your base.
- Add a fried egg, then top with a slice of cheddar cheese (or skip cheese if strict carnivore).
- Stack the second beef patty on top and finish with the second fried egg. The eggs serve as your “bun” here!
- For an extra indulgent option, you can melt some butter over the top of the burger.
- Optional Upgrades:
- Add the crispy bacon in between the layers of the patties for a crunchy, salty bite.
- Instead of regular cheese, you could use cheese crisps (melted cheese that has been fried until crispy) for a more carnivore-friendly touch.
- For a more nutrient-dense meal, consider adding a slice or two of cooked liver as an additional layer. It will elevate the meal’s richness and give you the benefits of organ meats.
Optional Serving Suggestions:
- Serve with a side of bone broth for extra collagen and nutrients.
- If you’re open to more fat, drizzle melted butter over the top of the entire burger for a rich finish.
This modification enhances the meal by adding more flavor layers (bacon and liver) and provides an optional organ meat upgrade to boost nutritional value. It stays fully carnivore-friendly while giving you more texture and richness.
