Carnivore Slow Cooker Rotisserie Chicken
Ingredients:
-
1 whole chicken (about 4-5 pounds)
-
2 teaspoons smoked salt (or regular salt)
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, as garlic is not strictly carnivore, but can be used if you’re okay with it)
-
1 teaspoon onion powder (optional, can be omitted for a stricter version)
-
1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional, but you can replace with more animal-based flavors like beef tallow if desired)
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional, can be omitted for a stricter carnivore approach)
-
1 tablespoon animal fat (beef tallow, pork lard, or chicken fat)
-
1-2 beef bones (optional, to enhance flavor and add extra nutrition during cooking)
Directions:
-
Prepare the chicken: Rub the whole chicken down with the animal fat (beef tallow, pork lard, or chicken fat). Make sure it’s evenly covered.
-
Season the chicken: Sprinkle the smoked salt (or regular salt), and optionally add garlic powder and onion powder (if you’re okay with a slight allowance). If you’re adding thyme or any herbs, sprinkle them on as well.
-
Optional beef bones: You can place a couple of beef bones at the bottom of the slow cooker for added flavor and nutrients, though this step is optional.
-
Slow cook: Place the seasoned chicken into your slow cooker, and cover with the lid. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for about 4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and juices run clear.
-
Rest and carve: After cooking, allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before carving. Serve and enjoy your carnivore-friendly, rotisserie-style chicken!
This version removes any plant-based ingredients like lemon and herbs, focusing purely on animal fats and meat. You can modify the seasonings as you like depending on your strictness level for the carnivore diet. Enjoy!
